“Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better.  It's not.”    That’s one of my favorite Dr. Seuss quotes.  His books offer children (and adults!) the opportunity to see the extraordinary potential which exists in each of us.  And indeed, as Dr. Seuss points out, every one of us has the potential to make a difference in the world in our own unique way.   

I look forward to featuring information in this space in the months ahead about how Soroptimist clubs and members in the Northwestern Region are sharing their individual talents to help make a difference in the lives of women and girls in their communities and around the world.

As Soroptimists we are joining our voices together to increase awareness of human trafficking. Clubs throughout the Northwestern Region are involved in projects that help protect women from violence, whether at home or in the workplace.  Our clubs honor girls involved in volunteer activities that help make community and world a better place – such as working to end discrimination and poverty, assisting women and children who are victims of domestic violence, or mentoring young girls.  We speak out about the need to provide equal access to education for girls around the world.  And we join together to promote awareness of women’s health issues.  

If these are causes where you’d like to help make things, as Dr. Seuss says, “get better”,  I encourage you to consider joining with us in Soroptimist where there are opportunities to make a difference as an individual, or joined together with the club in your community, or with the 108 clubs in our Region, or with thousands of Soroptimist members around the world!
